My husband lived in Germany for a year and begged me to make “real” goulash – he loves this recipe!

Hungarian Goulash

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 8 hours

8 hours, 10 minutes

Yield: 8

Add another teaspoon of paprika if you'd like a little more spice.

Ingredients

  • 3 medium onions, chopped
  • 1 large green pepper, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 pounds beef stew meat, cut into cubes
  • 1 can tomato paste
  • 3 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 14.5 oz can diced tomatoes, undrained

Instructions

Add all ingredients, mix well. Cover and cook on low 7-8 hours or high 3-4 hours. Serve with noodles or rice.

  1. Hmmm… I don’t see any broth or water in your recipe… How thick does this turn out? Thanks.

    • Claudia – It is quite thick, so if you’d like a thinner sauce by all means add some broth or water!
