Five Day Meal Plan for Guests

We have family coming into town tomorrow.  The first thing I immediately think of?  Dinner, of course.

When we have people staying with us for a period of time, I can guarantee I make a meal plan.  I want to do one huge grocery shopping trip prior to their arrival so that I can enjoy the time that they’re here.  I see it now – the scene is usually the same: me and my oldest daughter behind the sink cooking away, while a crowd of people sits around the breakfast bar enjoying the food.  Lots of talking, laughing, and spending time together as a family.  These are the times I enjoy the most.

So what to make for the next five days?  I’m planning as I’m writing this post, so this could be interesting!

Day One (July 4th) – There’s always any of these 4th of July recipes to choose from.  I think we’ll add to the normal burgers and brats, and do something a little more exotic.  Perhaps Thai Chicken Drummies.

Day Two -  Greek.  Definitely Greek.  It has been so hot lately I’ve been grilling everything and making lighter summertime meals.  So definitely the Greek Salad, and probably Gyros too – with chicken instead of lamb (or maybe both).

Day Three – It seems that every time we have guests we end up having a Mexican night complete with chips and salsa, margaritas, and (of course) Zesty Fish Tacos.

Day Four – Since our guests this time have not yet experienced my Veggie Spring Rolls, I know my husband will be telling me to make them at some point.  Might as well add them to the meal plan then!  No doubt if I make those my oldest daughter will make Crab Rangoon.  Not sure yet about the main meal – Asian Grilled Tuna, a simple stir fry, or perhaps Beef Curry (since we’ll have leftover tzatziki sauce from the gyros).

Day Five – Everyone is leaving today, so this is actually a dinner for my ‘normal’ crew.  However, since I’ve just done dinner extravaganza for the last four days, I’m thinking something easy is in order.  Or maybe pizza on the grill.  I made that last night – pre-made crusts brushed with olive oil (on both sides), pizza sauce, and our favorite toppings: pepperoni, mushrooms, spinach, feta, and mozzarella.  Cooked for 10-12 minutes over low heat.

Now to make my grocery list!
