I’ve mentioned how our garden this year is smaller than in years past. Now I’m not so sure.
Here’s our garden last year:
Here’s our garden this year:
It sure doesn’t seem all that much smaller. Which was alright with me, as long as we harvested as much zucchini as in years past. But sadly enough with this drought we’re having I’m not sure that’s going to happen! In years past I enjoyed making batches of chocolate chip zucchini muffins, zucchini bread, lemon poppyseed zucchini bread, zucchini boats, grilled veggies, zucchini casseroles and more! This year I told my husband we’ll have to go to our Farmer’s Market just to have enough zucchini to get by!
The result? Next year I’ll probably plant 3 times as many zucchini plants and it will be a fantastic summer with just the right amount of heat and rain. And we’ll have more zucchini than I know what to do with!
The kids are enjoying the pea pods and the few zucchini we’ve gotten so far. Tomatoes are on their way, along with green and red peppers, various kinds of hot peppers, green and yellow beans, tomatoes, cucumbers, sweet corn, and pumpkins.
Guess I’ll just have to wait for next year for my pounds and pounds of zucchinis.
