I’m ready for fall. It is hands-down my favorite time of year. The leaves changing colors, the apple orchard, pumpkins, cooler weather, and the cooking.
If you were to ask me in the spring, I would tell you I was ready to grill out – that I was craving burgers, brats, fish, chicken, anything on the grill! But now that we’ve had a few months of that, I am definitely ready to settle back into my 7-8 months of crockpot cooking and baking. Months where I’m not afraid I’ll heat up the kitchen too much by turning on the oven.
A week or so ago my 16 year old asked me to make meatloaf. Meatloaf? In the summertime? Weird. I couldn’t bring myself to do it, which made me realize I am truly a seasonal cook. I don’t make peppermint candy in June, meatloaf in July, or chili in August. I don’t make grilled fish and marinated veggie salad in December.
In honor of this, here are our favorite seasonal recipes!
