Personally I'm having a hard time believing May and June went by so quickly, but here we are with 4th of July upon us.  As one of my favorite comedians has said, holidays for many of us are all about the food (and massive consumption of it).

This summer we're grilling out.  A lot.  Like every day.  I get bored with the same old recipes pretty quickly, so after we grilled through our normal burgers, brats, steaks, chicken breasts, tilapia, and tuna steaks I wanted something new.

I cannot take the credit for this recipe; it was all my nephew.  Last weekend, we invited him and his family over for a cookout.  I offered chicken breasts and pasta salad.  He brought 20 drumsticks and Red Hot Sauce.  He used that on 1/3 of them, bbq sauce on 1/3, and then asked "do you have sauces we could mix together for a Thai flavor?"

My husband makes a fantastic jerk chicken.  He has a favorite brand of jerk marinade sauce, and cuts chunks of chicken, celery, green and red peppers, and red onions.  It's got some kick, so we usually have a loaf of french bread on hand.

It's summertime, which for our family means a nice mixture of crockpot meals and sides and grilling.  This year I've decided to experiment with way more than just your average steak, burgers, brats, or chicken.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend.  As the wife of a veteran, we live this day (and Veteran's Day) in remembrance of those who have served and are serving our country.

With the weather being unseasonably warm for the Midwest lately, we've been grilling out - a lot.  We went through our standard grilling recipes and came to an evening where I wasn't sure what to do.  My husband said tuna steak sounded good and I really didn't want our usual grilling fish marinade, so I went in search of something new.  Courtesy of Better Homes and Gardens, I found something yummy!
