Recommended CrockpotsIs it time to replace your old crock pot? Never bought one before? Whether you're purchasing a crockpot for the first time or replacing one that you own, there are a lot of choices out there. Below you'll see two crockpots - I own and love both of them. The West Bend 6-Quart Round Crockery Cooker I received as a housewarming gift for my third home when I already had three crockpots. It quickly became a favorite due to it being the perfect size for cooking meals for as little as four people or as many as eight. The KitchenAid 7 Quart Slow Cooker was a recent purchase. My previous off-brand 8 quart crockpot literally fell apart and became unsafe (the bottom casing that surrounds the round heating element fell off) so I was forced to go in search of a new one. After researching for hours and reading several reviews, I settled on the KitchenAid 7 Quart Slow Cooker and have not been disappointed. Benefits of this Slow Cooker include: -Oval shape with a large lip that slants up to prevent messes and spills -Rubber edged glass lid -Numbered by quarts on the inside for easy measuring -Five (yes five!) temperature choices -Sleek look with large sturdy handles and smooth dial -Programmable - switches to keep warm after cooking time is finishedWe are busy people. By 5pm, most of us are too tired to prepare a healthy home cooked meal and end up getting fast food or ordering a pizza. We deserve a top of the line tool to help us reduce stress and create healthy home-cooked meals with little or no preparation at dinnertime. These two crockpots are exactly that - an excellent addition to your kitchen, and I highly recommend either one.If you think that these crockpots are too large for you, think again! Most of the recipes on this site were prepared in a 5-7 quart crockpot, and make great leftovers for families of 4 or less. For ideas on freezing leftovers, check out FoodSaver Uses and Tips.
